1.Sublime - Jean Patou |

A superb fragrance from Jean Patou. Sublime is one of our all time top 10!!! The masterpiece of Jean Kerleo one of Patou’s great Post-War Perfumers. It is variously classified as a ‘Floral Amber’ or ‘Soft Oriental’ Pefume. The combination of Ylang Ylang with Jasmine and Rose a burst of Hesperidian on the top and a fascinating mix of Musk, Vanilla and Vetiver in the base make for a winning combination We love it.
As you perfume lovers may know Jean Patou is now owned by “Proctor & Gamble”. Thankfully the legendary “Joy” “1000” and “Sublime” survived the 21st Century transition but our noses detect that the formulation of Sublime is a little different - still wonderful but different. For your convenience we will indicate whether a particular offering is pre P&G or post P&G.
Amongst our treasures are some wonderful crystal perfume jewels. The gorgeous, rich “Sublime” solid perfume is encased in an octagonal gold box which is crowned with a dazzling ‘step-cut’ Crystal engraved with the “JP” Monogram. Each piece measures approximately 2inches/5cm by 1 ¾ inches/4.5cm, and is hand polished to add that special touch A piece of perfume history from one of the great perfume houses. When the scent is gone the dazzling jewel will transport you to the luxury, glamour and style of Patou’s golden years, a rainbow splashed boldly over the war-torn skies of Europe . In a flash those years were gone and darkness again descended. But remember the promise of the rainbow it ALWAYS re-appears!!!!

2.Ma Griffe - Carven |

Ma Griffe by Carven is one of the great “Post War Classic’s“. A wonderful fresh Chypre. In its distinctive green & white packaging it is as vibrant as a warm spring day. Light and fresh with a burst of Citrus top notes warming down to a floral bouquet of Lily of the Valley, Rose, Jasmine & Iris.The base is warm but not sweet with Oakmoss, sandalwood & Vetiver. Calming the senses on the warmest of days. Launched by Parfums Carven in 1946 it was another winning fragrance from “Jean Carles” one of the great perfumers and the expert ‘nose’ behind many great fragrances of the decade. It is a perfect fragrance for daywear and very Spring like in character.
The fortunes of “Parfums Carven” have waxed and waned over the years and distribution rights for this timeless fragrance bought and sold. All bottles offered by Sublime Sourcery are past vintages. THE CURRENT VERSION (2006) CANNOT BE RECOMMENDED IT BEARS NO RELATION TO THE GREAT ORIGINAL FRAGRANCE. Our recommendation is to scour the world for vintage bottles and treat them like liquid gold.

This wonderful rich Oriental fragrance was launched in 1990. Created by Chanel’s own in-house master Jacques Polge . This glorious fragrance is encased in a stunning deep blue bottle whose rippling folds evoke images of the flowing Grecian style “off the shoulder” gowns for which Ungaro is famous. Richly crowned by an emerald green glass stopper and decorated with a magenta pink ribbon the bottle itself is a true work of art. A masterpiece by Jacques Helleu. With top notes of Neroli, Jasmine and Orange Blossom and a heart of Rose Essence, Turkish Rose and Florentine Iris, It warms to a smouldering heart of Tonka Bean, Cardamom, Sandalwood, and Amber. Musk by Alyssa Ashley is quintessentially 60’s, it conjures up images of “Flower Power” and exploration of all things Eastern, Exotic and Oriental. These bottles date from a time when “Musk” was still made by “Houbigant” that legendary name in perfumery. Still produced today, you may like to compare it with its up to date counterpart. Is the recipe the same? let us know. Musk was a favourite perfume of Napoleon’s legendary love Josephine , and some say a powerful aphrodisiac!!! Of course modern musks are synthetic but who can tell the difference. We wonder if Josephine would have approved of this 20th Century creation. A quintessentially Spanish fragrance it was the classic creation of Esteve Monegal founder of the famous Spanish fragrance company Myrurgia. Created in 1918 Maja has endured until…. …2002. Myrurgia was acquired by Puig who set about reformulating it in that year. The result in our view - disastrous. It joins the ranks of dozens of sugary sweet non-descript launches - superficial and soulless creations. Monegal would not be amused. These precious bottles are the old formula.
